Cates Mahoney, LLC Partners Selected to 2021 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars Lists

This is Ryan J. Mahoney’s first year being selected to Super Lawyers. He has been practicing law for 14 years and focuses on employment and personal injury cases. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Missouri, and Minnesota, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois and the Eastern District of Missouri. Ryan represents those who have been injured or lost a loved one due to catastrophic injuries, and his career has seen involvement in some of the largest class actions and mass tort cases across the country. He has also aided in the financial recovery for numerous individuals suffering from consumer harm or catastrophic injury.

Ryan earned his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. After law school, he practiced at a Chicago-based personal injury law firm before relocating to southern Illinois. He joined The Cates Law Firm in 2012, which later became The Cates Law Firm, LLC. Ryan is currently a member of the St. Clair County Bar Association, the Madison County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the East St. Louis Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice.

David I. Cates has been selected to Rising Stars each consecutive year since 2013. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Kentucky, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois. Throughout his career, David has specialized in personal injury and medical malpractice cases for victims and has helped in the recovery of millions of dollars for his clients, including a record-breaking verdict in a sexual harassment lawsuit.

David earned his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Afterward, he joined The Cates Law Firm before forming The Cates Law Firm, LLC in 2013, and served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Hamilton County and St. Clair County. He is currently a member of the East St. Louis Bar Association, the Madison County Bar Association, the St. Clair County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Kentucky Bar Association. Additionally, David was a member of the Board of Managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, was a State Delegate for the American Association of Justice, and held the position of State Coordinator for Illinois for the Public Justice Consumer Advocacy Group.
